Installation of Billy Boat’s high-performance stainless steel headers for the VIPER V-10 is simple and straightforward. These headers do not require any cutting, welding, fabrication or other modifications to install. A professional can install the Billy Boat Exhaust headers using regular hand tools in 3-hours time. It is recommended a shop manual be referred to for removal and installation specifications.

Below are some tips to help you through the installation. If you require further assistance, please call our toll-free tech line at 888-228-7435.

REMOVAL OF THE FACTORY EXHAUST MANIFOLDS

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  2. Remove the primary O2 sensor from the collector of each exhaust manifold.
  3. Unbolt the bottom (collector) of the exhaust manifold at the exhaust flange. This needs to be done from the underside of the car. Remove the clamp that connects the header to the cat system.
  4. Unbolt the top of the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head and carefully remove the exhaust manifold from the engine compartment.

INSTALLATION OF THE BILLY BOAT PERFORMANCE EXHAUST HEADERS

  1. Apply anti-seize to all threaded components such as O2 sensors, bolts, etc.
  2. Apply a small dab of glue to the supplied primary gaskets and glue them to the headers.
  3. Slip each header tube into place (one at a time from the top of the engine compartment) and loosely tighten the primary flange bolts.
  4. Align the header tubes and slip the collector onto the tubes. (Note: if using the existing or other supplied cat back system, then the supplied turn out tubes will have to be fitted to the Billy Boat Exhaust headers). Use the supplied clamp to clamp the collector to the exhaust system.
  5. Install the factory O2 sensor and sensor wire.
  6. Reconnect the battery.

DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK

  1. Start the engine and carefully listen for any exhaust leaks. If a leak is detected be sure the hardware is tightened evenly across the flange and that the gasket is properly seated.
  2. Drive the car spiritedly and listen for any rattles or leaks. Let it cool down and install cosmetic plastic.
  3. After 500 miles are logged re-torque all of your work.
