The Billy Boat Exhaust system is a high-performance, emissions compliant muffler system that requires special installation care.  It is recommended that a professional exhaust technician perform the installation. Check to make sure that you have all of the correct parts.

Old System Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal for safety and to reset the vehicle’s on-board computer.
  1. Secure the vehicle on a wheel lift.
  1. Spray nut at front of system with WD-40 or equivalent.
  1. Using a large screw driver or pry bar, remove rubber mounts at rear of system by the tips leaving the ones forward of the mufflers till later. Remove center brace. Then remove the nuts at the front with a 15mm socket. To get the system off you should have more than one person, as it is long and awkward. Pry the last two rubber mounts off at the rear. With someone at the front you should be able to remove the system from the vehicle by pulling it back to the rear of the car and off the studs and then tilting it down and out past the bodywork.

Installing New System

  1. Install the front pipes, making sure that the metal gasket is in place. (This is necessary to seal up the exhaust). Put the nuts on to hold the pipes in place but DO NOT TIGHTEN.
  1. Install supplied isolator to bottom of vehicle. Slip the clamps on the resonator/x-pipe section and slide it on to the back of the front pipes, and up to the bottom of the vehicle over the studs of the isolator. Then put the washer, lock washer and nut on to isolator to hold system up.
  1. Install the rear mufflers in the vehicles with the stock rubber mounts (use a little WD-40 to help the mounts slip on the muffler hangers) they should hang in the vehicle.
  1. Bolt the mufflers to the center resonator/x-pipe with the supplied hardware and gaskets.
  1. After the mufflers are tight, go back and tighten the clamps and the nuts at the front. Make sure the center resonator/x-pipe mount is also tightened.
  1. It is normal for stainless steel to discolor slightly. To ensure a quality, lasting finish, thoroughly wipe down the entire Billy Boat Exhaust prior to starting.
  1. Reconnect the battery negative terminal and start the vehicle. Listen for exhaust leaks and ensure there is no contact between the Billy Boat Performance Exhaust system and any component of the vehicle.
  1. After driving the vehicle and getting the system hot, go back and re-tighten all bolts, especially at the muffler section.

Note: If you are using the anti wheel hop kit you will need to install ½” spacers in order to provide clearance for exhaust system.
