When properly installed, the B&B Performance Exhaust system will give you a lifetime of performance. These instructions will guide you through the original equipment removal and B&B istallation procedure. These instructions are not a replacement for a Ford service manual, which should be consulted for specific Ford requirements such as torque ratings.
Installation is easiest with the vehicle on a wheel lift. However, with appropriately rated and located jack sstands and a standard set of hand tools one can perform this installation at home. With the vehicle securely positioned, allow it to cool and remove the battery negative terminal's.
Remove the factory clamp at the joint directly in front of the factory muffler. Use WD 40 or similar penetrant to loosen the factory joint. It may be necessary to peel the pipe where the factory clamp was installed. Use WD 40 or similar penetrant to loosen the rubber hangers, once loosened you can pry the factory exhaust from the rubber hangers, these will be reused. With the system loose, remove the exhaust from the factory mid pipe and then remove from over the axle.
Start by sliding one of the stainless band claps around the muffler inlet pipe and then slide onto the factory pipe. Position the muffler section into the factory rubber hangers and snug the band clap (Do not tighten completely at this time). Position remaining band clamp onto the tailpipe assembly; carefully position the tailpipe over the rear axle slip fitting it onto the muffler outlet. Slide tailpipe hanger into the factory rubber hanger and snug band clamp (Do not tighten at this time).
Now that the system is completely installed and hanging loose begin to tighten at the forward most joint working rearward making sure that there is clearance around all pipes. You can rotate the tailpipe section to maintain approx. 3/4” clearance between the tip assy. and the bed of the vehicle.
Double-check your work. Ensure that all hardware is tight and that there is no contact between the B&B exhaust system and chasses components, hoses and moving parts.HINT: It is normal for stainless steel to discolor. For even discoloration and a lasting, quality finish, wipe the entire exhaust system down with rubbing alcohol before starting the vehicle.
Start the vehicle and listen for leaks. Take the vehicle for a drive around the block and listen for rattles. Stainless steel will expand so inspect exhaust clearance with the exhaust system at operating temperature as well.
