The Billy Boat Exhaust system is a high-performance, emissions compliant muffler system that requires special installation care.  It is recommended that a professional exhaust technician perform the installation. Check to make sure that you have all of the correct parts.

Old System Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal for safety and to reset the vehicle’s on-board computer.
  2. Secure the vehicle on a wheel lift.
  3. Spray nut at front of system with WD-40 or equivalent.
  4. Using the right size of socket, remove the hanger mounts at rear of system. These hanger mounts will be reused. Remove center brace. Then loosen the clamps at the front of the system. To get the system off you should have more than one person, as it is long and awkward. With someone at the front you should be able to remove the system from the vehicle by pulling it back to the rear of the car then tilting it down and out past the bodywork.

Installing New System

  1. Install the front pipes. Put the clamps on to hold the pipes in place but DO NOT TIGHTEN.
  2. Slip the clamps on the x-pipe section and slide it on to the back of the front pipes. (Slide the x-pipe only to were the stock system was clamped).
  3. Install the center mufflers in the vehicles with the stock rubber mounts (use a little WD-40 to help the mounts slip on the muffler hangers) they should hang in the vehicle.
  4. Clamp the mufflers to the center x-pipe with the supplied hardware.
  5. Install the hanger mounts to the rear mufflers.
  6. After the mufflers are on, check to make sure the system is aligned then go back and tighten the clamps from the front to the back of the system. Make sure the center x-pipe mount is also tightened.
  7. It is normal for stainless steel to discolor slightly. To ensure a quality, lasting finish, thoroughly wipe down the entire Billy Boat Exhaust prior to starting.
  8. Reconnect the battery negative terminal and start the vehicle. Listen for exhaust leaks and ensure there is no contact between the Billy Boat Exhaust system and any component of the vehicle.
  9. After driving the vehicle and getting the system hot, go back and re-tighten all bolts, especially at the muffler section.
