Precision crafted using 100% T-304 stainless steel and mandrel bending, this exhaust system is manufactured as an easy replacement for the factory system. By utilizing the factory mounting locations this system requires a single cut of the factory system and a supplied clamp for installation. All Billy Boat Exhaust systems for the BMW 335i come complete with mounting hardware and are direct replacement for stock exhaust systems. Attention to detail in manufacturing means easy installation. No machining. No down time. Just a faster, better sounding, better looking BMW E90s Exhaust right out of the box. Guaranteed for life against corrosion, rust or burn through and two years for materials and workmanship.

Billy Boat Exhaust line of performance exhaust for the BMW E90 335 incorporates the latest in resonance control technology, BBE’s proprietary Purge Resonance Technology or PRT as it is known. Completely reengineered the PRT system allows you to have a mild exhaust note at cruising speeds yet a forceful note on aggressive driving. The complex yet simple design gives you the increased sound and performance you are looking for with its straight through design on moderate to hard acceleration and then the unique purge chambers cancel out the unwanted interior noise during low rpm cruising speeds.

The development team here at Billy Boat Exhaust did extensive testing on the muffler exhaust system for the BMW E90 , looking at the both the 3.0″ exhaust and the 3.5″ exhaust. We found the best performance and best turbo spool-up to be with the 3.5 muffler system, which is slightly larger than the factory system. This allows us to maintain the low restriction muffler for quick acceleration, while gradually increasing the exhaust velocity throughout the system for greater horsepower and torque. These results have been confirmed by the chassis dyno and by our customers. The use of our PRT muffler design keeps the tone aggressive yet unobtrusive.

The Billy Boat Exhaust system is a high-performance, emissions compliant muffler system that requires special installation care. Since the factory exhaust system is a one-piece design it is necessary to “cut-and-clamp” when installing the Billy Boat Exhaust system. It is recommended that a professional exhaust technician perform the installation.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal for safety and to reset the vehicle’s on-board computer.
  2. Secure the vehicle on a wheel lift.
  3. Measure 3-inches from the center of the bend nearest the passenger rear muffler and mark with a scribe or permanent marker. Repeat for the driver side rear muffler Remember, it’s always better to leave it long and trim as necessary. (See fig-1 and fig-2)FBMW-11025install-1   FBMW-11025install-2
  4. Cut straight across the pipe until completely through. Remove burrs from the remaining exhaust pipe.
  5. Remove the vacuum tube from the driver side muffler. Unbolt the rear muffler hangers from the chassis and remove with the muffler still attached.
  6. Transfer the hangers off the original muffler to the new Billy Boat Transfer the ground strap to the new muffler. Slip the supplied adaptor into the new muffler pipe and clamp in place.
  7. Using the provided stainless steel band clamp, slip the inlet-end of the Billy Boat Exhaust muffler over the remaining exhaust pipe. The fit may be tight, as it should be. Attach the vacuum tube to the new vacuum assembly.
  8. Once the muffler and tip are aligned tighten the stainless steel clamp. While not absolutely necessary, it is recommended to spot-weld the joint of the Billy Boat Exhaust and the factory exhaust pipe to prevent slippage.
  9. It is normal for stainless steel to discolor slightly. To ensure a quality, lasting finish, thoroughly wipe down the entire Billy Boat Exhaust prior to starting.
  10. Reconnect the battery negative terminal and start the vehicle. Listen for exhaust leaks and ensure there is no contact between the Billy Boat Exhaust system and any component of the vehicle.
