Cadillac CTS-V Series System

The luxury of a Cadillac and the performance of a Corvette have collided to create a beautiful blend of speed and styling with the introduction of the 2004 V-Series Cadillac CTS. Equipped with the same 5.7 liter V-8 engine featured on the Corvette Z06 and producing 400 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft of torque, the CTS-V is a new generation of domestic performance-bred luxury sedans. Until recently, luxury sedans with high performance characteristics were left to the marvels of German engineering, and those wishing to buy domestic were left with no options until now.

As an acclaimed U.S. manufacturer of performance exhaust systems for Corvettes, it was second-nature for Billy Boat to embrace an exhaust mod for the LS6 equipped CTS-V. Track-tested at Germany's famed Nürburgring, the V-Series represents a new class of spirited and sophisticated Cadillac's. Billy Boat Performance set out to develop a system that reflects the newly redefined Cadillac edginess with a perfectly tuned and styled exhaust system.

The exhaust system for the CTS-V is available as a Touring or Sport system, and features our exclusive proprietary designed muffler, 3" stainless steel mandrel bent tubing, and 3/8" thick stainless flanges for ease of installation. The Touring system for the CTS-V integrates a center resonator section for a slightly deeper exhaust note than the factory system while producing a gain of 9 rear wheel horsepower and 8-lb ft. of torque. The Sport system integrates the use of a center Xpipe in place of the resonator and creates a commanding sound deserving of the LS6 engine while producing 15 rear wheel horsepower and 15 lb-ft. of torque. For the undecided, the resonator and X pipe are fully interchangeable and the X pipe can be purchased separately in addition to the Touring system. The true dual system for the CTS-V finishes off nicely with fully-polished mufflers and 4.25" double wall tips.

The Benefits of the new PRT Sport Exhaust for the Cadillac CTS-V

Billy Boat Performance Exhaust line of performance exhaust for the Cadillac CTS-V incorporates the latest in resonance control technology, B&B’s proprietary Purge Resonance Technology or PRT as it is known. Completely reengineered the PRT system allows you to have a mild exhaust note at cruising speeds yet a forceful note on aggressive driving. The complex yet simple design gives you the increased sound and performance you are looking for with its straight through design on moderate to hard acceleration and then the unique purge chambers cancel out the unwanted interior noise during low rpm cruising speeds.

2.5" vs 3" Exhaust

The development team here at Billy Boat Performance Exhaust did extensive testing on the complete exhaust system for the Cadillac CTS-V, looking at the both the 2.5" exhaust and the 3" exhaust. We found the best performance and sound to be with the 3" PRT muffler system, and then using a 2.5" front pipe and mid pipe arrangement. This allows us maintain low restriction for quick acceleration, while nearly eliminating the in cabin resonation created by the automatic transmission of the new CTS-V. The samller front pipes allows us to gradually increasing the exhaust velocity throughout the system with smaller diameter front pipes and larger mufflers for greater horsepower and torque. These results have been confirmed by the chassis dyno and by our customers.
