This high-performance exhaust system is absolutely state-of-the-art, employing the finest materials and craftsmanship available. Installation is a direct replacement of the factory equipment and shouldn’t take much more than two hours to perform.
Lift rear of car and support in appropriate locations with jack stands (consult owner’s manual), set emergency brake and chalk wheels.
Remove underside splash guard paneling to access exhaust system. Note factory mounting configuration: sleeves at the catalyst, plus five mounting points or “hangers.” The Tri-Flo muffler will install the inverse of the factory equipment.
Begin to remove the factory muffler system after the catalytic converters. You may need to remove the factory heat shield to better access some of the hardware. After all hardware is removed work the muffler off of the catalytic converters, being sure not to let the muffler drop on you – it’s heavy! Carefully use a pry bar to assist in removal where binding. It may also help to saturate mounting points with WD-40 to penetrate corrosion.
Install one muffler half at a time, working the sleeved end onto the catalytic converter first and working back, leaving all mounting hardware finger tight. Install the other half the same way and install the tip. Adjust the mufflers and tips for the best fit and tighten the mounting hardware to factory torque specifications, always working from the cat back to the tip.
Start the car and listen for any exhaust leaks or rattles. After ensuring that there are no leaks or rattles go for a drive listen for rattles over rough surfaces. After 500 miles re-torque your work to ensure all mounts are secure.
